♥ “You don’t choose your family.
They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.” ♥
I guess you only really start realizing the importance of family as we grow older. I’ve always loved my family to bits but I’m not going to sit here and lie that everything has always been so smoothly. There has been times that I questioned myself if my family truly loved me. It seems daft to even doubt that but when you’re younger you don’t know why your family is on your case all the time, well the answer is simply because they adore you and want all the best for you (specially your parents). Well of course I’m talking about the lucky people like me that have amazing direct family members that care about me and would do anything to see me happy. We are very close and protective of each other. I would not change them for the world.
I know that it is not always the case in which your family is there for you. Some people are unfortunate and don’t have that same support therefore, it is important to not take it for granted when you know that there are people out there that would put you before anyone else.
Growing up, I’ve witnessed so many occasions of some people not appreciating all the love and support that they were getting from their families. For example, ignoring them, bad mouthing them, treating them unfairly, and the list goes on…It saddens me in a way, because there are people out there that wish they had that and they would not take it for granted at all, they would cherish it with open arms.
For me personally there are friends that also become part of your family as you build an unbreakable bond, sometimes even stronger than your own blood. You are there for them and they are there for you no matter the situation. These are your friends for life! I am happy to say that I have met incredible people that have become part of my family and that is rare to find. My girls are my world too.
Now the question is: why is having a family so important to us?
Well…For instance, you will never feel completely lonely as you will always have someone to talk to and they will always care for you. Even when no one checks up on you, your family will always remember you. Christmas, New Year, Easter and other international celebrations will always be special as you will have enough love to share with them. When times get tough, they will be there for you, whether it is financially, emotionally, you name it.
Also, it is an amazing thing that God has created for everyone, the ability to start your own family. I can imagine that it is the best feeling to create your own little human beings and seeing them growing into adults and then carry on your legacy.
So please, next time you upset your family, apologise to them before it is too late. Always make sure that they are happy and healthy, take care of them. Life is too short and we must take advantage of everything that is given to us, and the most important one is definitely FAMILY!
